vet visit

because of Holly's heart murmur (never told to me but written on the rescue vets papers) and gingivitis, my vet believes she is more like 7 or 8.
which doesn't matter in the least i still would have gotten her. he gave me medicine for her ears, he said her breed is highly allergic.
she also apparently had an abscess at one time on her left eye because it looks a little damaged, he said this costs her no pain now (but did very much when she had it). now its just a scar.

poor poor little thing!

Heart murmurs can be 'innocent' and cause no probs... My husband and his 6 bro's & sisters have them as do my 3 children... An innocent murmur (which is what she may have considering they didn't mention it) is just a 'loose' heart valve that makes a 'whooshing' sound... Don't worry xox

She has the same look on her face that my Mandy Girl has. This sweetness, vulnerability and need for lovings. My shih-tzu is a puppy mill rescue. She refused to mate with male dogs and they were going to put her down as a result. She is the sweetest thing. I could go on about her sad story but I'd rather focus on the good life she has had these past 10 years. She's blessed to have you.

what did the vet say about the murmur or the adoption agency? this really should be looked at by a cardiologist (echo) just to make sure it is an innocent murmur and not cardiomyopathy. the agency should pay for that and really should have looked into it. my belle has a murmur due to hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and so far it is controlled with daily medicine but something that needs monitoring.

What a angelic face! No one could resist that. I rescued a 9 year old Bichon 9 years ago. He's still hopping around and playing with Maynerd. No age limit on LOVE!

Fascinating if she is really around that age how much she still looks like a puppy. And such bunny-soft hair, it seems. She is lucky to be with you now!

Suzi, my shelter-rescue dog Simone was supposed to be 4 (was actually 8 or so based on hardening of corneas) and had a murmur and hip displaysia... she was absolutely a marvel. We saved her life and then she turned around and saved mine. When my lupus first manifested, and I was mostly bedfast, Simone sat right by my side and refused to leave me, even to potty. I dragged myself out of bed so she could go. No matter how much pain I was in, enduring another sleepless night, all I had to do was look up and know she was there, watching over me, to get that tiny measure of peace that told me I could survive.

Her age finally caught up with her, but the blessings Simone brought to my life will never leave.

I know that Holly knows you've given her a second chance. I know she'll be there for you every time you need her.

I am very happy for you both.

This breed is known for its eye problems, so it's something to look out for, no pun intended.

It's so nice to see her running around the garden, and pushing her face against yours. It looks like she's always been with you.
