... it's always always always good to adopt "older" dogs ... people generally want puppies and so a 3 yo wouldn't be adopted as readily ... but there are advantages to be had with a 3 yo ...and she does look like she needs mucho mucho suzi love ... xoxo

Suzi, I have 2 fury ladies at home, both adopted as adult dogs, both from the animal shelter; they are both 10 times the size of this little heavenly creature; 2 dogs are not 2 times more work, they are 10 times more fun. I hope she will be yours.

She looks like she's a very capable love sponge! I can totally see her being the hostess at many a tea party, fussing over whether there are enough scones to go around, sniffing to make sure each floral tea cup is just so...

Do you know her history?

It looks like a match made in Heaven! Doggy love is unconditional.

Pekingese are also called "lion dogs" or "dogs of Foo"- Fu dogs are seen in many chinese art. they are considered guardian spirits because they look like chinese lions.

Hi, Suzi! It looks like Holly is in the right place to be loved, spoiled, and immortalized in a painting. I would love to send a "doggy shower" gift. I've used the wish list at Amazon before, can you pick out a few things she might enjoy? We luv you, sweetie.
Hugs,
Nancy (nanakin1)

Suzi,
She is beautiful.
I have to say, I am an adoption recruiter for older children and it is so hard to find people to care for them because everyone wants babies. I know in the "furry child world" the same holds true too. So, Holly truly needs love and you have so much of it to give! I agree with Nanakin1, if you need anything for Holly please post it. My daughter Raina and I would love to by something for another dog other then our own! Holly could probably use a girlie pink collar with "diamonds" in it, don't you think. Oh...and a few hair bows too! And a tutu, and ...........

My name's Holly & I'm a 3 year old Peke cupcake. I'm a very gentle, quiet little girl who adores being held & fussed over. I had a family, but they fell on hard times & couldn't keep me. Thankfully, a wonderful foster mom is taking excellent care of me now. She says I'm the sweetest little fluff ball! I sit on her lap & stare deeply into her eyes. I am still a little shy so a home with adults only would be best. The vet says I'm a healthy girl. I've been spayed, vaccinated & have even had my teeth cleaned. If you're looking for a darling girl to share your life & lap, please contact......

I sent out the application and she is in foster care an hour away. Lets see what happens. I know I shouldnt get my heart involved before I know anything for sure, but Im like that with Love. I leap.

Oh my god, what a cute little face! she's so smooshy! Please tell me she's from a humane society! Its so much nicer to adopt a pet than buy one, and much cheaper. Seriously, unless you plan to show it, who cares about the pedigree? the parents are irrelevant, the animal needs love. And there are so many abandoned animals that need homes before we start breeding more.

Oh... she looks like a cute, fluffy snowball of love. I'll keep my fingers cross!!!!

Sandy said...

If you need references- we are all out here for you!
she's precious! AND, so are you!

Larke Jewell said...

Suzi,
I feel you sometimes have to leap with your heart, because if we allow FEAR (False Emotions Appearing Real)to guide us then we will never truly get to experience what is needed for our growth! I will keep you in my thoughts on Holly. She is beautiful and needs to be with someone like you who can truly can love her the way she deserves. If they need references, such as most furry children in foster care, do you think they would mind receiving thousands from all of the people who truly adore and love you? That would be funny wouldn't it?

Hi Suzi,

I say go for it as they say "everything happens for a reason" and if you feel as strongly as you do about having a dog then I think this dog is for you. You both need someone to love and care for.

So GO FOR IT!!!!

Holly is a very lucky dog. If you are as creative and respectful with her care and training as you are with your artwork I am sure you both will thrive.

Judy Wise said...

She's so cute I can hardly sit still. You are going to make each other incredibly happy. Sweet little face. xo

Angela said...

Ugh... not my cup of tea. But if she makes you happy she makes me happy.

I've got to say the great thing about getting an older dog is that some one has already done the hard part- training and getting them past the puppy stage.

Usually it's a lot easier to retrain than to start from scratch.

A couple of people I know just got a puppy and really weren't ready for it. The chewing the pooping etc... Now they are getting a trainer.

I'll never regret adopting my little affen pincher brussels griffon mix. He's the best dog ever. We're slowly and patiently retraining him. All he wants to do it love. :)

Pretty baby! But why do i feel i am betraying LuLu? I love you Lulu! But bless your heart if you will adopt an older dog! LOL! Angelica

Long Black Eyelashes - Papers you get from the breeder are tricky things so legally I do not own LuLu. I could fight but I choose not to. I hope she is happy with her legal owner and that they have a long and wonderful life together.

That said, I make a GREAT mommy and deserve someone to love.

and the 2nd angela who said Holly is not your cup of tea

Big GIANT spitty face to you.

Bonjour Suzi! She is just perfect! She'll be yours soon, I bet! Dogs, dogs and more dogs, cats, cats and more cats... I can not walk near an animal shelter, I am affraid I will get inside and adopt every single one in there. Hope you do get her, Suzi. She looks like a real Mademoiselle!

Gina said...

What a beautiful little furball! If you decide to adopt her you will, of course , be a wonderful mom! You have so much love to give. Then go and watch a whole bunch of Cesar Millan shows! He's really great and you will learn, learn, learn! Good luck, Suzi!

ganesha said...

Suzi, it is possible to 'try out' Holly? For a week or two? I've found it the best option for me after, with heavy heart and lots of tears, returning a beastie that was not a good match.

sMacThoughts said...

OH she is just a love! But I have to admit this makes me feel so sad ....again, and moreso, for Lulu. Ugh, that dog deserves YOU. But I know she knows you love her no matter where she is.

Eveline said...

I don't normally like small dogs, but she looks adorable! And guess what, no potty training. ;) Hope she gets on with other dogs, and that she's not allergic to paint. ;)

artistikitty said...

Suzi, I am glad you are giving this due consideration to be sure it is the right thing for you. You know our hearts become invested in your animals as well through your art and vids. Our hearts broke with yours over the Lulu fiasco and our hearts will go pitty-pat for little Holly should she make her forever home with you. Best of LUCK!
