Storm knocked out my electricity for 24 lovely hours.

Power had been out here since 3 PM yesterday and stayed out until i went to bed at midnight. made a journal entry by candle light. had the door open and a puppy gate in front of it (most of the windows in this house and painted shut). I ate 4 ice cream sandwiches (had to the fridge was getting warm) and 6 mint milanos. I watched a june bug struggle to fly. I read the newspaper that I bought for LuLu to pee on. Found out Obama won. Went to bed.

Now its thursday at 9:30 am.
Im editing.
Get your board books ready!
This will be good!

Hate when that happens. An hour or two isn't so bad, but 24 is ridiculous... Have fun editing. ;)

It's just gray, gray, gray here in West Michigan. My son LOVES power outages! But he doesn't care what happens to the food in the fridge; that's a grown up concern.

Where, o where, are my board books? I'm going to have to look when I'm home for lunch this noon.

Fortunately for us, we were without electricity for 3 hours. Which seemed like an eternity, and it's amazing that even though you know the electric is off, you still enter a darkened room and flip on the light.

I have several board books ready to go....

I LOVE when the power goes out here. I instantly think of when I was a child and how excited I would get. I loved when my parents got out the candles and I would sit up all night watching the flame flickering. Although now with 3 children and summer time upon us it is a little harder to enjoy. If you've got things to do or children sleeping and it starts getting hot..theres no enjoyment in that! Every single time a storm rolls through here my internet goes down for hours or even days at a time. I always threaten to switch cable companies, but I never do.
Hope you get to feeling better MoonSown!!! :)

I'm one of the rare ones who enjoy power outages. It makes me realize how much we depend on moderate technology for our living and entertainment but I rise to the challenge of finding another way to enjoy an evening. 24 hours would be a bit much tho.

Board books are all gesso-ed up and waiting!

Sending healing thoughts your way, Moonsown!

P.S. Tequila is the devil.

It's funny how we don't realise that our whole lives rely on stuff like electricity and running water. I used to live in an apartment building on the 10th floor (oh 11th for Americans *giggle* that always amuses me) where no electricity meant no water.. couldn't flush the toilet or anything!

Looking forward to your video! How do you stand all the editing? I have some tapes lying around with footage of a painting I did but I just can't be bothered to edit it!! I'm so lazy.

I don't care for power outages. It gets way too hot for me. The last time we had one I went to bed with a battery operated fan on my face.

What strikes me is that a power outage can be an opportunity to be a creative person. You can't rely on the usual diversions of television, computer, or radio so you do something you aren't just in the habit of doing.
You can either let the ice cream sandwiches melt or not waste them and have a nice festival of ice cream eating. If you only indulge like that when the power goes out, it can't be too much of a problem, right?
Of course when my electricity goes out my well pump goes out with it. Living without water is a creative endeavor, too especially if the power stays out for a few days. I've learned you can melt snow to get water to flush toilets with. Creative, huh?

I thought power outages only happened out here in the boonies of Australia. We get it fairly regularly. The worst thing is no running water as we have an electric pump from the water tank.

You might be able to open those windows after running a razor blade around them. I wouldn't like not being able to open the windows.

Board book is at ready mode.

Hi Suzi,
I've been really getting into my blog and getting it all set up with cool features like yours is. I now have new slide shows. I also figured out how to add music. I'm on a roll now! Just finding you online has inspired me so much. What's up with the board books? I have some, should I be spreading gesso all over mine too?
XOXO Edie
