Relief!

Im queen of the bed self portrait these days! this stuff rocks. Its poison ivy scrub. I bought the CVS generic brand because it had the same ingrediants and was 20 dollars cheaper. it took the itch away completely. I might have to give it one more washing tomorrow but seriously, I was practically crying, it was unbearable and I started to scratch and make it bleed. and now I feel barely anything at all. maybe on my arm a little because I didnt do it good enough. WHY I am documenting this for you I have no idea. I think when we are in hell we instinctively need to communicate that fact to other people. anyway, never ever do any of us EVER have to go thru poison ivy hell again. ever. get the soap. it fkg works.

sketching for tomorrows video. Im going to have to paint it all in one day. its horizontal too Im starting to like those.

thats all. just hanging.

I was going to recommend this to you, but you were doing so much serious research into it that I knew you'd find it:=) YAY!

You should change your pillow cover and sheets too. I got it all over my back one time due to the oils getting on the bed sheets and reinfecting me in different spots. :(

Ouch! I'm glad it's getting better!

Glad to hear you are on the mend. I didn't know there was such a thing(the scrub)...thanks for sharing. I am alergic to poison sumac and got a terrible case of it when some sumac tree's were burning. The oil was in the air and got into my eyes and closed them up....not pretty. It was also in between all of my fingers. I never do anything normal.

Poor Suzi! Glad you are healing and feeling better! A long time ago, I went mountain climbing with my first ever boyfriend. Every once in a while we would stop and do some serious smooching. The day after, I woke up with poison ivy all over my butt. My mom was on the phone with my boyfriend's mom, who she knew well, and she was very happy to learn Claude had a stingy butt too !!! If I recall well, I was grounded for a few days, time enough to scratch myself to death... Ahhh! souvenirs... Take care! LuLu P.S. Yes, I can sew clothes. I learned haute-couture and patern designing when I was out of high-school.

ouuuutsch - we don't have poison Ivy in Germany- but my MIL in NJ pointed it always out to me in the garden and seeing what it did to me it must be terrible. Glad you found something that helped.

128henriettehenrSuzi, camomile lotion is the ticket. Poison anything sucks. If that does not work, have a glass of pink wine. That always works! Get your mind off of it.
When you are numb, start drawing a picture of the pretty leaves that put you into this situation in the first place. I think a pretty girl dancing in poison ivy is such paradox. You definitely can make it work.

Suzi, you'll be fine, just use camomile lotion. Then do a real kick ass drawing of your cutie girl dancing thru ivy! Of course, you must be under the influence of pink wine to numb the itching!

I worked with a lady who contracted poison ivy (or poison oak... not sure which) from her boyfriend, who encountered the offending bush while urinating in the woods one evening.

At least it's your face... and you can scratch it in public without everyone thinking you're a pervert.

;o)

Judy,
I did get the generic version because it had basically the same ingredients and was 20.00 cheaper...but, I should have gotten the other. It was probably stronger thats why it costs more. I washed three times so far with it and it has relieved the extreme itching but after awhile some itching is still there and I need to do it again. and youknow I didnt even think about things I touched. perhaps paint brushes? god this SUCKS. it looks very bad close up. the soap scrubbed it raw. i have to go to the post office and Im afraid people will be creeped out by me! so self involved I am eh?

Glad it's helping relieve some of the itching. I love your pink crayon studio painting. I've been videoing the making of a doll this morning. It's a lot of work and I appreciate even more how much you do for us every week...even with poison ivy on your face!

It will get better.. don't scratch.. you'll cut that purty face of yours... Just go back and get the Zan-Fel then... it can't hurt to have it around anyway. Yes, paint brushes too.. it sucks, I know.. hang in there.. Even wipe alcohol on your steering wheel of your car... that stuff can be relentless.... My hubbie got reinfected with the garden shovel handle that had the oil on it......Big hugs your way!!! J

Calomine lotion would help, too. It will dry it up so maybe won't itch so much. I am glad that the soap is helping though. I too think you should paint a pretty girl dancing in poison ivy. That would be cute!!! Hugs!!

Hey Suzy - hope you feeling better now! I've never had poison ivy but last year I had an allergic reaction so bad my whole face blew up and itched some much I cried for days. I looked like I'd been in an accident. I never realised that itching can become like pain! Apple cider vinegar can be good although can also sting like hell.
Sound like you are on the mend though :-)
