Art Playshop with Suzi Blu: MANDALA

You can buy a beautiful purple bracelet from Arlan here

I'm excited that I can make longer videos now, I wasnt sure how big blip.tv would let the file size go, look its over 4 minutes! I will keep this in mind next time and make it even longer. I wont feel so harried when making it anymore either YAY!

Also - I would like to fill the borders of these two journal pages with the internet love goddesses that I've met. If you'd like I would lOve if youd send me a pic of you to my email and then Ill print it out and glue it in. Like a record of our experience here.

and also...look how the white wall looks behind me. not so great. web tv doesnt like white walls Im going to have to change that next time.

I love this video (as well as all of your others)!

I'm like you, I need more goddesses in my life. I'll keep my eyes open for purple strings and pick one up for myself. :)

I loved the idea of the purple bracelet, but I couldn't find where to buy one at the link you provided. Also, if you google "purple string bracelet", quite a different meaning comes up, it's a way for unseeming lesbians to identify eachother. Which is cool, however, I'd hate to disappoint someone because I thought it was just a friendship thing. :/

Unichorn said...

Great exercise; why having problems being a controlfreak when there is no control in the end anyway!
@ meena p: lol! I thought it was 'just' a friendship thingy too (walked the same digital road as you did, apparently). But either way, I think it is a good concept and unfortunately, necessary...

Hey Suzi!

Thanks for posting yet another awesome video you goddess you! I love the purple string idea too. You rock girlfriend!

Meena,
Its been known as a lesbian thing but I talked with arlan and it doesnt hAve to be sexual. I guess though that it does mean intimacy might be involved, I dont necessarily see that as a hetero/or homosexual thing. Im like that though. I want to cuddle with everyone : )

Perhaps goddesses can come up with another bracelet idea, something without any sexual undertones? What could it look like? Lets make them!

You are a wonderful human being and I am a better person having found (directed by the universe) your beautiful expressions from the heart. Suzi one day soon I know you will meet your soulmate, a female, and so many bad movies and great cups of tea you will have together. But until then know that you have a very beautiful energy about you and many people out in the universe that love and appreciate you.

Suzi, Suzi, Suzi...
we goddesses just love every little thing about you, you know that right?
Maybe one day we can all meet at a mid point geographically and make a huge human goddess mandala... how yummy would THAT be?
Your videos are so incredibly delicious that I find myself biting my nails to the quick (not good!) waiting for the next installment.
And about the purple string?
I love the idea, and I think that the easiest way to personalize it for the goddesses would be to just buy a 'letter G' charm to string to it. 'G' being for girlfriends and goddesses of course!
Let me know if this sounds like a groovy goddess idea and I'm gonna make one!
Thank you for the beautiful gift that you are, and the beautiful gift that you share.
WE LOVE YOU!!!

YES JOAN!,

Perfect. I was going to get a tattoo of the word goddess on my wrist, if I didnt have to worry about a day job I would. I think G is perfect! how should we do them? where do we get a g that looks good. How do we keep it from tangling too much and getting in the way. we are going to need a video for goddess bracelet how tos! I dont know a lot about making bracelets though. - sue

Oh, Suzi blu,I love you!
The purple string really struck a cord with me! It probably may be a 'lesbian' thing - but who cares, however we could have the purple entwined with a pink strand - hey, throw in the "G" charm too and we got ourselves a calling card!
I had been hearing a lot about 'Goddess' parties, etc. so you calling us goddesses - well, I like it! You however are the Goddess of us goddesses - thanks Suzi, for being you!
Hey, Kelly, maybe with our special bracelets we will run into each other in NC! Ha!

Suzi, you are absolutely adorable and awesome! Every time I see one of your videos, I just want to reach right through the monitor and give you the biggest hug! :-) I, too, have been isolated for a long time, and I've been wishing for the same thing a lot lately. My husband is my dearest friend, but he's not a girl, and us girlies need other girlies! Thank you for all of your sweetness and your wild, ginormous heart!

Love it! Thanks. I like the mandala in the form of a spell or wish sort of. Very cool and you could do one on Friday night to coincide with the full moon. We do need a universal symbol of "i am a friendly person come on up to me". Thou Art Goddess.

Suzi,
I'm no jewelry expert but I made a few zillion when I was a preschool teacher! I'll hunt down 'G' charms tomorrow, figure out the easiest and cutest way to assemble one and then email you! And yes, any goddesses out there that have the know-how and a fresh idea should help the cause! (It's a good cause!) And Suzi about isolation? I lived in Fl. for almost 6 years and never knew a soul but the cashiers at Wal-mart... how scary is that!?!

Tarnok said...

Yay! Awesome work again. Do you want us to send a real picture or a self portrait/drawing of ourselves?

It is so hard these days to try and come off as a decent person to just talk and hang around with. People are always thinking that everyone is trying to rip the other off. A universal sign would be a great idea.

In this society, the mentality is that everybody wants something from someone, and it "will come at a cost" which is true to an extent. But the cost and price is usually in money/dollars and everyone is quick to judge the other.

The thing is, we are trying to get something from the other, but it isn't money or things. What ever happend to simple friendship or love or time together? Simply enjoying the moment? There is to much "time is money" mentality and not enough "People are worth it to be nice".

Opps, I hit the rant button!

HI Suzi ! I love your unedited video!
I don't understand why you aren't able to place longer videos on YT I've made 10 minute videos before. when you save your video. Play a bit with the size settings. If you use a mac pc I don't know how it works, but with WMM you have an option of changing the megabites. I tried emailing you to your regular email from this webpage but I don't have a passport ID. Can you send me your email addy to my youtube account So I can send you my goddess photo?
I want a purple string bracelet! Love you!Your FRIEND!

Another very inspiring video! Still waiting to get my gesso, sigh (out of stock at the moment). What a great place this world would be, if everyone started wearing "come up and talk to me"-bracelets :-)! On a sidenote: My boyfriend would very much like to help you reducing the filesize of your videos. Just email me, if you want some information.

Brilliant stuff. I love the philosophy that comes along with the art.I've tried new things like using oil pastels and doing a self portrait. Today is a play day for me so I'll be trying the mandala. I've got lots of celtic stamp mandalas but have never tried to do one myself. You are an inspiration indeed my lovely goddess!

I love Mandalas!! Your big art journal is like Alice in Wonderland huge, no hiding in there. I have been making art everyday since first seeing your video a few weeks back. Thank you Thank you.

Hi Girlfriend. Thanks for what you are doing for us.

Mariposa said...

I think they should be easy to make, a bit child like and whimsical. Maybe like beads you find at the craft store, you know which ones, the ones where you buy them in a huge bag and it's just a mod podge of stuff that makes no sense. As for the G charm. Hm.... I guess that's more difficult, where can we all buy a certain type of G charm so that it all looks the same?

I loved loved LOVED this video! Mandalas are so wonderful. I have lots of "line art" mandalas ready to be coloured and embellished but have never done my own.

I love the bracelet idea. I need more girlfriends too.

On a side note, a tattoo on a wrist would not prevent you from getting a job. I have a ladybug on my left hand. People don't expect to see a tattoo there so they don't see it for a long time. BUT (and a big but it is!) getting said tattoo on said part of the body HURTS like you wouldn't believe it. Let's stick to the bracelet!

Cheers,
Sophie

It's much clearer this video, love that but missed seeing you paint so hope for more art soonish. You are great girl, I've been wanting to do mandala for ages just didn't know how... will do one like you did!

Nancy here. Google doesn't like me and won't let me sign in.

RE: charm
How about it we convince Suzi to do a little circular goddess mandala based on the ancient blobby-feminine-venus sculptures, and put it online and we all print it and SHRINKYDINK it???? Then we could put it on a purple string, or make a braid of purple pink and blue to show we embrace the full spectrum of goddess-hood ... (or maybe we could make it pink, red, and grey for the three goddess facets maiden mother crone hmmmmm)

Whatever, the id tag is a groovimus maximus idea!

My first thought seeing this video is that we not only need women in our lives, but we need to really honor the female in ourselves.

No one else will do it. Our culture sure won't do it. How to do it is different for each of us, but being in the male rat race made me really physically ill. So, I'm slowly learning..........

Thank you as ever Suzi Beautiful.
Having wonderful womenfolk to hug is the best, and I'm lucky for having many in my life....I hugely and gently wish you the same.

For those goddesses looking to connect with a letter G in the UK The Brighton Bead Shop is a creative experience in itself...

Dear Anonymous,

Yeah that does sound pretty bad I am AWFUL SORRY. Seriously. I think I was just blown away when I saw that you found a way to make it longer. Ive been pulling my hair out since i started this whole thing trying to get a way to do that. It takes so much effort to edit edit and cut everything...just so stressful. I know I got extremely excited and youre right, I was beside myself with HOLY SHIT!!!! that I neglected to comment on your wonderful video.

Im sorry : ((
Its all a bit overwhelming and so very hard for me to give back what im getting. i cant keep up. its no excuse. I should slow down and pay attention more.

Please dont take it personally i didnt mean to slight you.
I hope you can give me another chance. I try not to be an idiot most of the time.
