Brr is it cold in here? Better take off this WET BLANKET

a wet blanket it a person who pees on your parade. pee-pee blankets I call them. They say, You aren't going to leave the nose that way are you?" and "You need to shade more by the cheek. "I am not talking about an art teacher giving instruction to a student who is ernestly trying to understand portraits, but 'friends' back when I first started drawing. happy I was with just rolling graphite around paper I didn't ask or want advice! But there it was - with the message:
WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE MAKING ART? if you are just starting out in art you might experience pee-pee blankets in your life. People who do not allow themselves to create therefore dont want you to either. so down the pee-pee will come on your journal, your portrait,
whatever fun and free things you are doing. But keep this in mind: they are scared. Instead of getting mad have compassion and be an example they can look to. Someone convinced them
when they were young and small that making art was only for special people. Great masters like Rembrant and Michaelangelo. Not for little them. Or little you! with your crayons and curls!
Your making art confronts their fear and they will tell you "This isnt REAL art you are doing by the way." but you will let it bother you none, right? instead, you will think of me, and my messy art room shelves, and the laundry that needs to be done, and my lack of real furniture or a husband and a job. AND YET
oh and yet,
i play and create and it is wonderful.
you will make art
and this is your statement affirmation:
and then make a face : P
and say "La la la"
and go about your art.
Assignmet 4 coming tomorrow morning.
suplies needed:
cheapie acrylic paints
colored pencils
anything you want!

"la la la" I love making art! I've seen the pee pee people before. With their *you actually sell that* look on their face. How unforunate for them. Sometimes it hurts a wee bit, escepically when it's someone you'd figure would be support you. Oh well- Keep creating!

b-t-w, I think I have a skirt in the same fabric as your shirt :)

I just found your blog - what a treasure! Please keep sharing yourself. You are an inspiration!

I had a kitty with kidney disease that we had to give fluids to...I know how hard it can be and we had to let the vet do just didn't work at home. I love Kitty-Kitty and I can still hear him sometimes, purring and chirping at me while I do art or cook dinner. He was only 10 years old. =( Anyway, I understand and you are doing a GOOD thing!

I'm off to enjoy some more of your videos! =)

I think I'm yellow.

So timely - your post - as I am making my first "Suzi Blu" inspired art piece today. They say imitation is a form of flattery. Not sure who might see this piece I'm doing, but she's named "FEARLESS".

I, too, am working on a SuziBlu inspired piece. Suzi, you have rocked my world! I have started an art journal, I've made new friends, I've watched your vlogs a million times it seems. I agree with everyone else who says that your words today are SPOT ON. They brought tears to my eyes, rolling down my face, actually. For some reason, I'm so scared to make art, real art, but you (and a few brave others) make me a little braver.

"La la la"! Suzi Blu!

Love.Love.Love you and your art! You are such an inspiration! I don't post videos on YouTube, but I do have an account and watch videos tirelessly! In fact, I watched all 25 of yours in one sitting. I've bought my journal and am now working on page 2. I'm looking at my art journaling in a whole new light now. Thanks to you! By the way, I'm linking up to you on my blog...hope you don't mind! I can't wait to see what you have in store for your next video!

Suzie, you're absolutely right!!!
There many people out there that won't do art just because they cannot do it "right"... and you're showing people that they can.

PPP.....these are the types that want to suck that brilliant light right out of you.....yup, there are many of those out there. :) And then there are the shiny bright stars that surround you and put up the umbrellas and keep the PP from soaking in and sprinkle love and trust and encouragement and acceptance and wisdom. ...and you are surrounded with all these colorful umbrellas. And if you need more, just give a shout out and I will send you some of the ones gathered around me right now.

I have also been advised by those pee pee people with that look what exactly is that......dont you think you might need a few lessons. Well lets just say they never saw my art again.....

Most of the people who give out negative comments don't have the courage or passion to do art, ignore them and feel sorry for them and their lack of passion.
I hope you don't mind but I linked you to my blog.
Keep up the good work

hey there sweet artist girlfriend... my computer has been down so i haven't been able to get my "suziblufix"... this is sad for me, but i have not stopped doing art! thankfully i do not experience the wet blanket P P people (or at least i haven't for a looong time), but they can be so damaging to ones psyche. art is such a personal expression. that's like telling someone that you don't like their smile. very sad, those people. i have now finished like 7 (s-e-v-e-n) mini paintings in, like? 8 days!! i've almost done a painting a day since i discovered your website and got mucho inspired! i just luv yah!
